The Pack Looks Back: A 2022 Year in Review

As 2022 comes to an end, I’m prouder than ever of the steps that every team member at Arctic Wolf has taken to protect and delight our customers as we steadily advance toward our mission of ending cyber risk.

The unwavering commitment our team has demonstrated this year enabled us to support more customers and partners than ever before, secure industry-leading recognition for our technology, innovation, and business growth, and deliver the next generation of cybersecurity solutions to an ever-growing international market of customers and partners.

As a lifelong runner, the durable growth we’ve been able to sustain throughout 2022 reminds me of one of the greatest endurance feats of all time.

In 1983, a 61-year-old Cliff Young purchased his first ever pair of running shoes in Sydney, Australia to prepare for one of his first races, a 544-mile ultra-marathon. Young wasn’t an athlete by trade and had no formal training but had perfected his stride by running to herd sheep for sometimes days at a time — in work boots — on his family’s farm. Against all odds, Young’s efficient stride and consistent pace lead him to victory, with generations of future marathoners studying and adopting his (at the time) non-traditional gait.

Young bested his competition and built up an insurmountable lead by refusing to rest while others slept, instead keeping a steady pace for five days straight throughout the race. While Arctic Wolf isn’t in the running business, our people, partners, and our technology have absolutely put us in the right place to disrupt the security industry in the same way that Young did marathoning. We will never rest in our mission to end cyber risk, and as a result, we have catapulted ourselves to a leadership position in the cybersecurity industry — and we are not about to stop.

Unlike Young’s incredible story of individual success, at Arctic Wolf, we are not going alone on this journey. It’s not really a secret that what makes Arctic Wolf special is the team we’ve built and continued to expand throughout 2022. Leaders are only as effective as the people around them, and doubling our headcount to more than 2,000 Pack members while retaining the same pace of innovation and growth is a testament to the company culture we foster day-in and day-out.

Underscoring this culture are the bevy of honors that we collected this year: A Fortune 2022 Best Medium Workplaces Award, a 2022 Inc. Best Workplaces Editor’s List selection, regional workplace awards in Minnesota, Salt Lake City and Ontario and accolades for our inclusivity, employee well-being, professional development, work-life flexibility and more, including Best Place to Work recognition for women and millennials.

Our Pack members have also shined in winning individual awards, with five team members recognized by CRN as 2022 Women of the Channel for their outstanding insight into channel success.

Our customers and partners are also taking notice of how we do business. The hundreds of new partners we’ve signed this year, along with the acquisitions of Tetra Defense and vxIntel, have leveled up our Security Operations platform, making it a must-have for organizations everywhere.

This year, we also set up Arctic Wolf Labs, a fast-growing team of elite security researchers, data scientists, and security development engineers dedicated to threat research and intelligence that ensures we remain ahead of novel attack techniques. With Arctic Wolf Labs, we’ve further improved the quality and volume of the threat intelligence that feeds into our platform for effective threat detections.

We remained committed to advancing our offerings to be the best security partner for customers, regardless of where they are in their security journey. For example, our new IR JumpStart Retainer helps organizations proactively plan for, and rapidly respond to, cyber incidents with industry-leading time-to-remediation and without the high upfront costs of traditional IR retainers. We also took the opportunity this year to launch a new Data Exploration module, an advanced capability that helps security teams more easily and affordably find insights within their data, improving upon the unprecedented value of our security operations platform.

Our commitments to excellence and fanatical customer support are paying off.

CNBC, Forbes, and Fast Company all validated Arctic Wolf as one of the most disruptive technology businesses in the world this year. Leading analysts concurred, with Gartner naming us the fastest growing Managed Detection and Response provider in the world and European analyst company KuppingerCole scoring Arctic Wolf as the top Security Operations Center-as-a-service. The Pack has also made inroads into exciting new markets this year in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Nordics, and  has reinforced our position as the partner of choice in Germany and the United Kingdom by winning awards in both regions for excellence in culture and security services.

Most importantly, the Pack has never been a stronger or more cohesive unit than it is going into 2023. Our Pack Unity Program has committed more resources than ever to cultivating an inclusive and energizing work environment at our offices across the world through the formation of new Pack Unity Alliances and partnerships. Our Pack members have taken the opportunity to volunteer across their communities throughout the year and share their stories internally and online, and the performance that our team has put on to make Arctic Wolf a household name and must-see booth at conferences and shows around the world is nothing short of spectacular.

After such an incredible 2022, Arctic Wolf is in position to take even bolder strides forward in the coming year, and I can’t wait to get started on the next marathon with our customers, partners, and employees who make up “The Pack.”

Happy Howlidays!
